decided it was safer and more worthwhile to delay the movie than risk a media blackout if the strikes weren’t resolved by November. Since the cast has so many stars in it, and with the status of negotiations still murky, it seems that executives at Warner Bros.

Under the conditions of the strike, no members of either guild would have been able to promote the movie at all. While this several-months long delay will push the movie into 2024, the decision will allow the movie’s stars and its writers to be part of its promotional cycle - as long as the AMPTP is able to agree to terms that fit the WGA and SAG demands. Then the studios delayed it a second time, due to the ongoing strikes against the AMPTP by the Writers Guild and Screen Actors Guild. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment originally scheduled the film to premiere in October 2023, eventually delaying it to November.

Unlike the first Dune from 2021, the sequel won’t stream from day one on HBO Max ( which will soon be known simply as Max). Dune: Part Two will debut in movie theaters on March 15, 2024.
